Church music group videos
In the first lockdown during April 2020, our existing Music Group at St Chad’s, which played at the informal 4.15pm Sunday afternoon service, discovered the BandLab app. After a steep learning curve we have been providing three hymns and songs each week for a Sunday ‘Zoom at Noon’ service. A video of the service is uploaded to St Chad's Facebook page and this website. Singers from St Clement’s, also on South Bank, York, recently joined the Group.
Once each song is completed, the recording is added to an iMovie video. The words of each verse are arranged so that congregations can both see the verses and hear the singing, and so join in.
We have 100 videos in the bank now, and some are ‘in the public domain’ and may be used by anyone without attracting copyright fees. We continue to record pre-1951 hymns and expect the number to steadily rise for the foreseeable future.
How to get a video
Please email Nick Nightingale (bass and ‘cello). His email is below.
Let him know which hymns are wanted and the name of your Church / organisation.
He’ll send them to your email by We Transfer.
It will be a delight for the Group if you make use of these videos, whether at home, on a device, on screen in church or on Zoom - whatever!
If you really do like and use one or more, a small contribution to our appeal for step-free access into both Churches - St Clement's and St Chad's - would be excellent but by no means an expectation. If you'd like to donate:
Call Nick 07730 465655 or his music colleague Jill Shepherd 01904 424411
